Three years ago, a local community college approached us about offering at GED program to our community on our Campus. But we didn't have the space and had to turn them down. This lead us to consider an important question: “What if our current facility became prohibitive to carrying out the Vision and Core Values of our church?” Currently we find ourselves in the situation where we are turning away the very people God is calling us to serve.

As Church of the Redeemer has grown, our Children's and Youth Ministries have outgrown their rooms and currently overflow into less than ideal spaces. In addition to adding rooms for these important ministries, our existing classrooms and bathrooms also need important renovations.

Planted 21 years ago, Church of the Redeemer has witnessed dramatic demographic changes in Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, and Atlanta. On the surface our part of town feels and looks like a relatively affluent, prosperous, and moderately expensive place to live. The "Perimeter" area is home to a large number of corporate headquarters including the new Mercedes HQ. However, there is another side to our town that is "invisible but in plain sight."

Since 2011, the number of people living in poverty in the suburbs of Atlanta grew by almost 160%. Suburban neighborhoods across our city are seeing increasing numbers of families struggle to make ends meet. Sandy Springs and Dunwoody have a consistently growing need for mercy & justice ministries.  We are experiencing new challenges related to suburban poverty. The need here is real. Our community needs GED and ESL programs, job/career training, college readiness help, and a Latino church plant.

Six years ago, because of her reputation as a church committed to serving the needs of her community, Church of the Redeemer was approached by LaAmistad, a renowned and established after-school tutoring ministry in Atlanta, to become their first satellite site. Six years later, in 2017 that partnership has blossomed into our current relationship with Sandy Springs Mission involving 80-120 children after-school four days a week.

With the opportunities that God has blessed us with, we believe it's time for us to increasingly Invest & Engage Together and we invite you to join us!
